Veterinary Osteoarthritis Alliance Podcast Episode 25a - From the laboratory to the Labrador: How cell therapies are manufactured and applied in veterinary OA
These two episodes are really Podcasts not to miss.
In this is first episode, Russell Chandler of VOA was fortunate enough to have a conversation with two of the great innovators of canine regenerative medicine in the UK.
Dr Andy Armitage needs little introduction. Andy established the UK’s first private veterinary practice solely devoted to small animal regenerative medicine, the Greenside Veterinary Practice in Scotland. He has collaborated, for many years, with Dr Jo Miller of Cell Therapy Sciences, Coventry. Jo along with her business partner, Dr Christine Standen founded the laboratory to manufacture stem cells for use by vets in clinical practice. Together they have to date provided more than 11,000 stem cell doses for mor than 3,000 patients.
Podcast recorded 21st April 2023

Episode 25a content:
Have you ever wondered how clinicians and scientists collaborate in the regenerative medicine space? Or how do autologous stem cells make their way from the patient, through the laboratory, and back to the patient? If so this podcast is for you.
Andy Armitage describes why he uses regenerative medicine for canine osteoarthritis. He outlines the procedures for tissue harvesting and cell administration. Discussion of the laboratory processing that is required to move from the collected tissue to transplantable stem cells is provided by Jo Miller.
This, once again, is a further excellent resource for all people involved in the veterinary osteoarthritis realm.
Look out for Episode 25b in which Andy and Jo discuss their oustanding paper analysing 245 MSK cases (yes 245!) in which Andy used regenerative medicine.
